Exceptional service, good food, trendy vibe, great spot... this place had just about everything we were looking for.
We decided to try out this place for brunch. Parking in Sundance Square Parking Garage was free the day we were there, and according to www.sundancesquare.com/parking "you can park in any Sundance Square Parking Garage at no cost after 5pm on weekdays and all weekend long. On weekdays, you can park for free in the garages with merchant validation."
There wasn't much of a wait thanks to Open Table. Although I would not have minded in the least this time. Sundance Square was calling out for me to explore the shops. My boys had already made their way to the bubbling fountains and my husband... well, he always has his phone. But this was not to be; our table was ready pretty quickly. At least I would finally be getting my mimosa! Too bad Bird Cafe serves theirs with Prosecco! No amount of oj can hide that stuff! Blah!
Our food was much better. My youngest loved his French Toast and I thought my Badass Bacon Waffles were just that - "badass". I thought the Carne Asada Waffles should come with a warning: "To Be Eaten By Coffee Lovers Only, Not 9 Year Old Boys". My 9 year old garbage disposal of a son who eats everything only picked at his food. Me, being the coffee lover that I am, decided to try a bite of his. I instantly was so happy with my food choice. His tasted like waffles and steak drenched in a pool of warm coffee. Once you got past the flavoring, the steak was cooked to perfection. I can only imagine how good this meal would have been without the coffee flavoring.
Bird Cafe does not have a kid's menu nor does the regular menu offer simple, basic foods that most kids like to eat (even my waffles had melted blue cheese on them, delicious to me - my kids - not so much). You could always have your kids share a meal as portion sizes are generous. Or better yet, save this restaurant for a date night for mom and dad.
