The Fort Worth/Dallas area is growing and expanding like crazy even in areas you think have already maxed out. Of course, I'm still a newbie, so I've been known to be wrong about some things Texas.
My husband and I heard about a new restaurant and had to take a drive to see what it was all about. When we got there, we were surprised to see the new restaurant was surrounded by several new shops, other restaurants, a parking garage, nearby apartments, new houses going up across the highway... It was like a mini Shops at Legacy! Turns out it's the Toyota Music Factory. Where have I been?! Oh right... home with two kids.
The Thirsty Lion hasn't been open for very long - just since the end of October. There is still lots of construction going on, but hey, at least parking is free for now. The construction has not kept people away. My husband and I went on a Friday afternoon for lunch and it was packed. The service was great and our food was tasty.
They had an extensive cocktail menu. I chose a drink with absinthe in it because I think that is what you are supposed to drink on Fridays midday while your children are in school and you don't have to drive home.
To complete my meal, I had the Gastropub Burger which was infused with gorgonzola and had grilled sweet onions. I absolutely loved the maple pepper bacon that topped the burger. I ordered a side salad instead of fries to try and be a little healthy and then proceeded to drench my good intensions in ranch dressing. Oh well, next time.
And we definitely will be back. The Thirsty Lion was great and I can't wait to see all the shops and restaurants that will be opening soon at the Toyota Music Factory.
