Finally! A date night with the husband... without the kids!!! Awesome. I know.
We decided on Cork and Pig, a place we probably wouldn't take the kids. Don't get me wrong; the kids would have been fine there. It's just that the area that the restaurant is in is very college esque. It's lively, and fun, and young and that's probably not where my children need to be on a Saturday night.
In keeping with the young theme, be prepared to be led in almost complete darkness to your table where you will have to read your menus with your iPhone flashlights. (Maybe no one else did, but we sure needed to. I guess my eyes aren't as cool as they used to be.)
Our server was wonderful. He was knowledgeable and made the best recommendations. The Moscow Mule was made with love, well not actual love... It had vodka infused with a real ginger root. My favorite drink of the night was The Buzz. I mean what's not to love about ingredients like gin, lemon, honeysuckle liqueur, and lavender bitters?
The Artichoke Appetizer was nice and salty. It was definitely worth the extra mess. My husband had to have the Texas Burger cause it had jalapeños on it. The French Dip was okay, but the Mac and Cheese was awesome! Should I go back anytime soon, I will not be ordering the French Dip; I will be ordering a double order of Mac and Cheese. It was that good!
All in all, we had a good time at Cork and Pig on one of our rare date nights. Hopefully as the kids get older, we'll get to go out a little more often.
