The entire goal of writing this blog is to discover those restaurants with that perfect combination of great food and drinks, warm-friendly service, and a cool vibe that most national chains just aren't capable of providing. The only thing Stirr was able to deliver up was good food. And I'm not sure if good food alone is worth coming back for.
I get it - the entire vibe is meant for a younger crowd. I'm a good 10 years older than most of the customers and I'm not single and looking to "hook up". The Sunday 4:30 crowd was what I would expect after 10PM on a Saturday night at a local club. Since when did people start partying so early?!
Clearly, they did not have a kids' menu, but that was ok with us. Our 10 year old has decided that kids' meals are way too small for him and we never know when our 6 year old is going to eat. We ordered the Calamari. The 6 year old loved it so much he asked our server for more! My little one and I shared a burger and jalapeno mac and cheese. Both were very good. The mac and cheese wasn't too spicy which was good since my son ate most of the burger on me!
So... what's the problem then? Being seated at a table and abandoned without a server for one. Somehow I managed to figure out what I wanted to drink and eat before our server arrived. That never happens. I also had time to observe the couple at the bar groping each other and making out (lovely). It was a little more action than I had hoped for my children to see on a Sunday afternoon. After getting the manager's attention, it still was quite a while before we were served and service was not great - surprise, surprise. My family wants to give them another shot, but I just don't think I can do it. There's so many other great options out there.
