We (okay, I) decided to try out one of the meal prep services - the one that takes all the planning and shopping out of the equation for you, leaving just the cooking. All you have to do is order what meals you want, wait for delivery, and follow simple cooking instructions and walah! Perfect right? If only.

Sun Basket seemed like the perfect choice for out family... all organic - no pesticides or growth hormones for this family (if we can help it). But clearly, we were out of reach of their delivery area. We ordered on two separate occasions and both times half of the food came expired. The first time just the produce was expired; the second time produce and seafood were inedible. We were given a $40 refund the first time around to convince us to try again (big mistake!). The second time we were given a $40 credit towards our next order. The $40 did not even cover buying the missing ingredients to complete the meals never mind the hassle of going out to buy them at the last second. We never even used our credit because we didn't want to throw our money away again at Sun Basket.
If you are lucky enough to receive fresh food from Sun Basket, most recipes are quite tasty. Of the few that we tried, the Pork Sliders were my kids' favorite. The Yucca Mash was a big fail. It was tough to make and quite possibly the worst thing I have ever eaten. I still haven't heard the end of that one! Let me know how Sun Basket or other Meal Delivery Services have worked for you.
