I'm not a barbeque fan, but I could be if SMOKE where a little closer to home.
My husband wanted barbeque again, as usual, and somehow he convinced me because some show told him it was good (Man, Fire, Food I believe).
We started off with cocktails. I highly recommend the No. 901 if you are a whiskey drinker like me. The drinks were on the strong side - just the way I like them! The kids were even happy with their Shirley Temples; they got loaded up on extra cherries (pretty much the whole reason for getting a Shirley Temple in the first place).
We tried to order the Smoked Sausage Sampler, but apparently they are only serving that as a full size now. That was all right with me because one of the sausages was rabbit and I'm not really down for eating rabbit. I'm sure it tastes great, probably just like chicken, but I don't really care to find out. My husband, on the other hand, has been trying to trick me into eating something weird for quite some time. I've got to keep my eye on him. He ALMOST got me.
For our meal we wanted to try it all, so we went for the Family Style BBQ Board. It came with ribs, brisket, pulled pork, bacon, turkey, potato salad, coleslaw, pickles, veggies, and rolls. Basically it comes with everything you could want at a barbeque. The menu says it feeds 3-4, but I think it could feed a few more. The kids and I were eating leftovers for days. And I'm glad there were leftovers cause it probably was the best barbeque I've ever had. My favorite was the pulled pork followed by the ham. My husband liked the ham and he doesn't even like ham! And the biggest shocker was that my oldest child liked the veggies most of all! I admit, they were good, but not pulled pork good.
I've been thinking about SMOKE ever since we've been there. Too bad there isn't one on this side of DFW. SMOKE, if you are thinking about adding another location, Southlake, Roanoke, Flower Mound... all great locations!
