Fantastic food, drinks, and atmosphere. This place has it all! Too bad I no longer live in Connecticut to enjoy it. Boooo! If you ever feel like expanding (particularly to Roanoke, the Unique Dining Capital of Texas), you would be an awesome addition. Hint, Hint. Just something to think about.
We discovered At the Barn while trying to find somewhere "nice" to take my dad out for his birthday. It's hidden away in Granby, so unless you know it's there, you will never find it. But I suggest you search out for it. You'll be glad you did.
I had the Shrimp a la Plancha. It was grilled shrimp on corn risotto (delicious - I wanted to lick the bowl, but somehow I remembered my manners). My husband had the Paella and did not save me a single bite! My mom loved her Pan Seared Sea Scallops. They were prepared with a sour pineapple reduction and came with black bean tasso mash and jicama slaw. My son got the Grilled Salmon, and since he likes his food as plain as plain can be, he got the strawberry salsa that came with it on the side.
It has been about two weeks since my dad's birthday, but he still calls to thank me for the best birthday dinner he's ever had. I know at least one restaurant I will be eating at during my next summer visit to Connecticut!
